Yama, Yami and the Creation of Night

Yama had died. The gods tried to persuade Yami to forget him. Whenever they implored her to do so, she said, “But it is only today that he died.” Then the gods said: “Like this she will certainly never forget him; we will create night.” So the gods created night and thus there arose a morrow; thereupon she forgot him. Therefore, people say: “Without doubt day and night together let sorrow be forgotten.”
